MEET SELEINA

Seleina is the youngest in her family, an inquisitive 7-year-old girl living in the Maasai village of Naisoya, Kenya. Seleina is one of the 50 children who attend the Narok Community Outreach Program on Saturdays for healthy meals, Bible classes, counseling, and tutoring. She loves studying with her friends and her mother appreciates the educational and nutritional support Seleina receives. In the fall of 2022, the family discovered the depth of holistic care provided by Orphan Outreach, as the Narok Community Outreach Program staff provided life-saving care for their little girl.

On her way home from school, Seleina was bitten by a rabid dog. For Kenyans living in remote areas with little access to medical care, rabies means certain death. If Seleina did not receive treatment within 72 hours, all hope would be lost. Unfortunately, the cost of this crucial medical care was out of the family’s reach. Seleina’s mother earns just $3 a day as a day laborer. But the Orphan Outreach Kenya staff jumped into action to save Seleina’s life. Orphan Outreach rushed Seleina and her mother to Nairobi for emergency treatment and fully covered the cost of medicine and transportation. The staff then coordinated ongoing medical care, shipping medicines from Nairobi to the closest clinic so Seleina could complete the full series of shots. The total cost of life-saving medicine and transportation was less than $100 – out of reach for Seleina’s mother, but made possible through Orphan Outreach.

Seleina is now back in school and thriving and her mom is eternally grateful to God for saving her daughter’s life. She says hope has been restored to her family.
