Orphan Outreach

The Problem

Perú is a land of beauty and heritage, yet it’s also home to more than 550,000 orphaned and vulnerable children. Behind the stunning landscapes lies a daily struggle for survival and hope.

COVID-19 IMPACT: One in every 100 children lost at least one parent.

CHILD POPULATION: 26% of Peru’s people are under 15.

POVERTY: 39% of children live below the poverty line; women and indigenous families face poverty rates 8% higher.

REMOTE CHALLENGES: One-third of the population lives in hard-to-reach regions, where documentation and access to education are limited.

EDUCATION GAPS: School is free, but language barriers, lack of resources, and distance keep many children from learning.

FOOD INSECURITY: 52% of Peruvians face moderate to severe hunger.

Our Response

Orphan Outreach responds to the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children in Peru in 4 ways:

We offer tangible hope by meeting the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of orphaned and vulnerable children.

We provide Christ-centered therapeutic support for young adults with disabilities.

We provide restoration and security to children whose lives have been ravaged by neglect, abuse, and exploitation.

We invest in community outreach programs that strengthen and preserve families in high-risk, impoverished areas. These programs provide nutritious meals, access to Christian education, quality counseling and mentoring, and urgently needed medical care.

Casa Josefina, Cusco

Nestled high in the Andes Mountains of Cusco, Casa Josefina is a loving home for abandoned and abused children from birth to 5 years old. Many of these little ones come from heartbreaking circumstances and arrive facing significant challenges, but the dedicated staff wraps them in compassionate care, meeting their developmental needs and helping them heal. The home's ultimate hope is to see each child thrive in a permanent family—whether through reunification with their birth families, placement in local foster care, or adoption into stable, nurturing homes where they can flourish.
