Hope of Jesus, also known as Hope in Jesus Family Reintegration Center, is a private Christian ministry located near San Pedro Sula, Honduras. At the core of Hope in Jesus is transformational ministry—relentlessly seeking to restore children’s rights to live in a safe and secure family.
Children rescued from abuse and neglect by the protective system of the Honduran government are placed in the care of Hope in Jesus and are provided individualized physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational support. With strong biblical teaching and compassionate counseling, the children are equipped with the tools needed to break the vicious and often violent cycle of poverty not only for themselves but for generations to come. But the ministry to the children doesn’t stop there. Hope in Jesus provides pathways for each child to be reintegrated with, or placed into, a permanent and loving family where they can receive physical, spiritual, and emotional care, equipping them for a fulfilling, independent Christian life in their own community. The Hope in Jesus Comprehensive Care Team works with Child Protective Services of Honduras to develop an individualized plan for each child being considered for reintegration. This includes extensive family tracing, ongoing counseling, and care for the child and family by walking alongside them before, during, and after the reunification process. When reintegration isn’t possible, the team finds the best type of care based on the child’s unique needs, helping the child gain the tools to interact with their family and their origin story in a healthy way. Orphan Outreach partners with Hope in Jesus, providing expertise and resources to transform and diversify the types of quality assessment and care being provided to the orphaned and vulnerable in Honduras, including family-based care, family preservation and reintegration, privatized foster care, and community outreach programs. Hope in Jesus was founded in 2010 through a partnership between the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras and former Anglican missionaries, Mike and Kim Miller during their service in Honduras. At its core, it is a transformational ministry, restoring hope in the lives of orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in Honduras.
