Immeasurably More Than We Can Imagine
— Rey Diaz · Tuesday, January 23, 2024 —
Our Orphan Outreach family loves to dream. We are dreamers. We dream about what could be in the life of a child if God had His way. We are constantly praying – ‘what does God have in store for this child?’
Then we plan and design and serve and support and care for and love the child through all our ministries. We know that ministry is hard and messy especially when working with the orphaned and vulnerable. It's a long journey, not for the faint at heart, that will require patience, perseverance, and grit. We celebrate every victory, however small, and we support one another during the struggles. We know that we are not alone on this journey. God was here before us, and we are surrounded by so many who care for these children.
As we look back at 2023, it has become absolutely clear – God blew our expectations out of the water. We set some stretch goals that would put us outside of our comfort zone. We were hoping to expand several programs to start serving the families of the children in our programs. We also wanted to continue walking along with students as they headed into the university. We also wanted to multiply our impact in some ministries where God was opening doors. These were our hopes and dreams. And God has done immeasurably more than we set out to do.
I know this is God’s modus operandi. I know that this is just another year where once again God goes beyond our wants and asks and goals. So why am I always surprised? Maybe it’s our human nature to doubt, worry, stress over the future? And this verse reminds us again – we serve a “God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or imagine.”
As we head into 2024, I’m praying this verse over the lives of all the children we serve, over all our OO staff around the world, and over all of YOU who fuel our ministry. I wholeheartedly expect to look back at 2024 and to say “God did more than we could have asked and imagined” in the lives of the children in our ministries, in the lives of our OO staff, and in YOUR life.
Amen.
