Copy Of Real Hope For The Purpose Weary 4

Welcome to 2022.

A new year is here.  So much promise and potential.  Yet so much baggage from the previous years.  For many of us, we are hopeful as we head to the future.  For others, we feel dread.    In addition to the underlying worries, anxieties, and troubles that we all face due to another variant, inflation, political chaos, global poverty on the rise, and a culture walking further away from God, I have also felt another tug.  It’s been a soft whisper.  The echoes of a promise.

I’ve felt God's invitation to remember.

To remember God’s promises.

To remember God’s presence.

To remember God’s miracles.

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Psalms 103:2 NLT

I forget. Too often I forget the miracles of yesterday as I face the troubles of tomorrow.  Despite having a lifetime of evidence of God’s presence, promise and provision, I forget.

Like me, the people of Israel had the tendency to forget what God had done yesterday.  They were thirsty and so God would give them water.  The next day, they would worry about food, so God gave them daily bread.  Then they worried about something else.  There is always something else to worry about.  It’s easy to forget.

We at Orphan Outreach know this is a critical year in our story.  Our founder, Mike Douris, is retiring and we are facing our first transition.  There is always something to worry about.  But we believe God's past faithfulness is proof of his future provision.

…may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Psalms 103:2 NLT

So I will remember:

That for 15 years we have served over 100,000 orphaned and vulnerable children

That God has always provided more than we can ask or imagine

That God has gathered partners from all across the US to walk alongside us.

That God cares for His children more than I can imagine.

And as I remember, I wait for the next chapter God is going to write.  It’s going to be the best one yet.  There will be ups and downs, twists and turns, yet God will be at the center and you and I will be held safely in His hands.

…may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Psalms 103:2 NLT
