Orphan Outreach



The Marketing Assistant supports the full scope of marketing and communications efforts and support for Orphan Outreach, ensuring the organization’s brand and ministry brings glory to God as we serve orphaned and vulnerable children around the world including coordination of special events and Orphan Outreach Marketplace.


Assist with Special Events

  • Assist in the organization and execution of special events, including signature fundraisers, host committee meetings, sponsor and VIP gatherings, and other by-invitation-only opportunities
  • Assist with coordination of volunteers for set-up, tear-down, and on-site needs
  • Work with Marketing Project Coordinator on auction and raffle solicitations and inventory management of donated items
  • Assist with post-event recaps, gift entry, and thank you letters to all vendors and donors
  • Provide support to WOW auxiliary chapters in Houston and Andrews to execute and manage their annual fundraising events as needed.

Orphan Outreach Marketplace

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Orphan Outreach Marketplace, including order fulfillment and inventory management
  • Support live retail events and WOW markets including bookings, merchandising, and volunteer coordination
  • Working with the Digital Content Coordinator to curate imagery and messaging, promote the Orphan Outreach Marketplace, and enhance user experience online
  • Working with the Senior Manager of Marketing & Special Initiatives, overseeing the Orphan Outreach Marketplace budget, and evaluating product lines

Marketing Support

  • Working with the Senior Manager of Marketing & Special Initiatives and the VP of Programs, curate, produce and publish the monthly Partnering in Hope newsletter (subscriber-based prayer email from Rey Diaz)
  • Working with Marketing Project Coordinator to curate monthly feature articles, blog posts, and “From the Desk of Rey Diaz” devotionals for website
  • Working with the Senior Manager of Marketing and the Marketing Project Coordinator, assist with photography and video shoots and digital production for both Orphan Outreach and Orphan Outreach Marketplace
  • Provide assistance to Digital Content Coordinator for content scheduling on all social platforms used by Orphan Outreach as needed
  • Coordinate project request forms with Marketing Project Coordinator to ensure they are completed fully and correctly, and assist in gathering necessary assets so that all projects may be initiated in a timely manner
  • Assist Marketing Project Coordinator in ensuring Orphan Outreach staffs, both domestic and global, receive updates on major campaigns and fundraising efforts in order for them to participate fully in those efforts.
  • Manage Dropbox Photo Library and Video Library for easy access to imagery to be used for all marketing and communication projects
  • Provide monthly reconciliation support for both Orphan Outreach and Orphan Outreach Marketplace expense budgets
  • Provide support as assigned for all marketing projects and campaigns

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be a committed Christian; adhere to Christian principles and values. Involved in the local church and understands the role and value of the church as an advocate for orphans.
  • Requires a basic understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. Bachelor’s degree preferred.


  • Must have an outgoing personality and enjoy working with people and getting them excited about being involved in special events and the Orphan Outreach Marketplace.
  • Must be able to take initiative and manage time efficiently.
  • Requires ability to organize complex tasks and plans and to be detail-oriented; effective ability to create plans.
  • Requires ability to work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and speaking in front of small groups.
  • Requires ability to work under minimal supervision; must be self-motivated and able to motivate others; ability to exercise excellent professional judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must exhibit self-confident behaviors, secure with self, and willing to give credit to others.
  • Requires ability to speak clearly and be understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with accuracy while speaking on the phone.
  • Requires ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with staff, guests, and outside agencies/organizations.
  • Requires ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, answer phones, return phone calls and communicate in situations with some background noise.

Skills and Proficiencies

  • Must speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • One to two years of marketing experience, especially in a nonprofit or faith-based environment, is a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Working knowledge of special events is essential; experience in managing special events is a plus.
  • Must be familiar with and comfortable with managing content on social platforms.
  • Experience in web design (front-end) and content management is a plus.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High level of proficiency in Apple Environment.Requirements
