MISSIONS COORDINATOR (full-time)

BASIC FUNCTION:

Orphan Outreach is a Christian non-profit serving orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Our mission is to glorify Jesus Christ by having a significant, long-term impact on orphaned and vulnerable children, equipping each child for a fulfilling, independent Christian life in their community. 

We are looking for a Missions Coordinator to coordinate international missions trips to all countries served by Orphan Outreach. The ideal candidate will be very detail and task oriented, have strong project management skills and experience in a deadline driven environment. This individual will have strong relationship building skills and possess the ability to work with team leaders, trip participants and in country staff as trips are being coordinated and planned on behalf of each team. 


RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

Coordinate international mission trip logistics for Orphan Outreach:

  • Develop mission trips in coordination with Orphan Outreach staff. 
  • Plan all aspects of trip itineraries in conjunction with Orphan Outreach program goals and needs.
  • Coordinate trip details with international staff.
  • Assist with mission trip air travel and visas.
  • Help develop and implement curriculum, materials and activities to be used on trips. 
  • Lead trip preparation meetings and recruit and train trip leaders and volunteers. 
  • Lead trips as needed. 
  • Manage online Missions Admin database and monitor financial records of trip participants. 
  • Communicate with volunteer and mission interests. 
  • Assist with missions functions at Orphan Outreach office.

Other duties:

  • Assist department staff in meeting deadlines for various tasks and projects as required. 
  • Participate in staff meetings, church events and other opportunities. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

NOTE:  These requirements represent minimum levels in order to perform the job on a satisfactory basis.  Candidates must have the ability to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the job.

Requirements

  • Must be a committed Christian; exhibit Christian principles and values. Involved in a local church and understands the role and value of the church as advocates for orphans.
  • Have a clear understanding of and commitment to Orphan Outreach’s mission and vision.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in project planning .
  • Project management experience/training preferred
  • Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. 
  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Must speak, read and write English proficiently.

Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and be understood in face-to-face interactions; to speak in front of groups; and to articulate with accuracy while speaking on the phone. 
  • Ability to carry out detailed oral and written instructions, answer phones, return phone calls and communicate in situations with some background noise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with staff, applicants, churches and outside agencies/organizations. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change. 
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision; must be self-motivated and able to motivate others. 
  • Ability to exercise excellent professional judgment and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to organize complex tasks and plans and to be detail oriented; effective ability to create plans. 
  • Must exhibit self-confident behaviors, secure with self and willing to give credit to others. 
  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally with valid passport and related paperwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other standard office software.
