HOLISTIC CARE
CADANIÑO, COLONIA SANTA FE AND SAN JOSE PINULA, GUATEMALA
Fredy is a 7th grader who lives in the Colonia Santa Fe district of Guatemala City, a neighborhood marked by gang activity and violence. In a country where 68% of children don’t go on past 6th grade, he is excited to be continuing his education. Vulnerable children like Fredy who attend CadaNiño receive spiritual formation rooted in the hope of the Gospel, a safe and nurturing environment, STEM activities, tutoring, mentoring, and nutritious meals.
The holistic care he receives helps Fredy thrive academically, expands his future career opportunities, and breaks the cycle of poverty and violence in his community.

STAFF TRAINING
PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF CHILDREN
For the first time, in 2023, all Orphan Outreach staff and partner ministries from Guatemala and Honduras gathered for training and fellowship. The group of 90 took a deep dive into the impact of trauma - and the journey of healing. 99.1 JoyFM, our radio partner based in Missouri, fully funded this two-day intensive; the station’s listeners ensured all retreat expenses were covered for both the staff and the mental health professionals. Orphan Outreach staff received training in Biblical trauma-informed care, and a time of refreshing for their own hearts.
“It’s evident they are deeply invested in the care of the communities, to talk about trauma and healing and being vulnerable – it’s something not often discussed publicly,” said Blanca, a Christian music artist who served at the event. Providing mental health training and trauma-informed care is just one of the ways we ensure our staff are equipped to serve vulnerable children well.
