Please Pray for Juan in Guatemala

In Guatemala, only five out of ten students who enter primary school in urban areas complete primary school, as opposed to only two out of ten in rural areas, such as Panabaj, a small village outside of Santiago. Poverty is particularly widespread among indigenous communities, where children face multiple disadvantages in addition to a lack of education, including chronic poverty, high mortality, poor health, and undernutrition.

Juan Pablo, age 13, lives in Panabaj and is in the 4th grade at Good Shepherd Christian Academy in Santiago. He has seven siblings and his parents sell wood for a living. Juan’s hobbies include playing soccer, reading and doing his homework. Praise the Lord for allowing Juan to attend school and obtain a quality Christian education. He hopes to become a doctor someday, and with the dedication of Pastor Diego and the teachers at Good Shepherd, Juan can break the cycle of poverty and impact his community with the love of Christ.

Please join us in praying for Juan and his family, for his continued education at Good Shepherd, and for the Lord to equip him with the skills and passion to make a difference in Panabaj. Pray for God to provide the urgent needs of the school, which include scholarships for 30 children, teacher and staff salaries, renovations, and supplies.
