PRAISES

The Mission Backpack distribution team returned safely from Guatemala last Saturday and had an amazing week of ministry with the kids at Mrs. Arzu's schools and at Mama Carmen's orphanage. Brand new Spanish Bibles, donated by Lone Sheep Ministries, were distributed along with over 300 backpacks and school supplies. The team included representatives and listeners from Encouragement radio in East Texas. Amy Sams, trip leader, said that the kids were so excited when they heard they would be receiving their own Bibles. Their love for God's Word was evident in their expressions. The team also did crafts, games, and simply shared the love of Jesus. Thank you for your prayers over this trip.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Haiti
Please join us in praying for the people of Haiti, especially the orphans. Before the earthquake there were an estimated 50,000 children living in orphanages. Reports have recently been estimating that the number of orphans may have tripled because of this tragedy. Orphan Outreach has provided humanitarian aid to Haiti in the past, and we are praying about how we can support efforts with other organizations currently working there. Guatemala
Continue to pray for Mike Douris and Bob Beams as they complete their time in Guatemala this week. They also had a productive time with the staff and leadership of AFE while in Honduras.

India
Praise God for the team from Emmaus Church is doing well and staying healthy. They have had a very fulfilling and enriching time with the kids both at Santvana and the Red Light Area. Please pray for them as they travel back to the U.S. tomorrow. Click here to read their blog postings.

Continue to pray for Dr. Edwards as she is going through a rough time followign her husband's recent death. Even though she was strong in the time immediately following his death, she is feeling the loneliness now.

Pray for the need for competent staff at Santvana. They really need good caretakers for the children and to assist Dr. Edwards. Praise God that the children are doing well and keeping good health at the present time.

Pray also for the Jeevan Anand Home as they seek the Lord's guidance in making future plans as they are now properly licensed with the local government authorities to have orphans in their care. Praise God for His provision in allowing them to be able to purchase a minivan that was needed to transport the kids back and forth from school.

The Muneer Welfare Society in Delhi request prayer for God's provision to help support a few of the orphan girls who have finished school and now need funds to pursue the higher education and training they desire to do.

Pray that God would lead more people to support, through prayer and funds, the growing needs of the ministry in India.

Russia
Praise the Lord for His protection over Svetlana, assistant director at orphanage #60, and her leadership, along with the new director, who is very open to having Bible studies at the orphanage. This is a part of Orphan Outreach's evangelistic ministry that seeks to make Jesus known in the orphanages. Pray for the children who hear the Word of God through these Bible studies; pray that their hearts would be softened to receive the Lord.
