SCRIPTURE VERSE

"The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;

my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.

He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I call to the  LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies."

~Psalm 18:2-3

PRAISES
We give all glory and praise to God for His faithful provision with the generous end of year giving. Donors provided for the needs of our programs in every country. In Guatemala, all of the children we support will start their school year with the backpacks, school supplies, and new uniforms they need. In Santiago, 21 of the 30 children we sponsor received donations to cover their monthly tuition in 2010.
Click here to learn more about how you can help the remaining nine children, read their stories and learn about their needs.

We are also thankful for the Christmas celebrations that happened in each of our programs around the world. Many children heard the story of our Savior's birth and were given Christmas gifts that served as a tangible expression of His love through the help of generous donors.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Guatemala

Pray for the team of eleven individuals who will be serving in Guatemala January 10-16 and will be ministering to children at Mrs. Arzu's schools, Mama Carmen's and Manchen Girls Home. The team will be delivering backpacks, school supplies and Bibles to children in Guatemala City.

The Lord has blessed us with the privilege and resources to serve children in Guatemala. Please join us in praying for additional funding to meet the needs of more children.

A new school year is beginning this month in both Guatemala and Honduras. Pray for the children as they start the new year, that they would be encouraged in their studies and that they would grasp God's love and perfect plan for them.

Honduras

Pray for Mike Douris and Bob Beams as they travel to Honduras and Guatemala January 15-22. Pray for guidance and wisdom as they visit and evaluate programs.

Also pray for discernment in hiring a case manager at AFE School. Pray that God would bring the right person for the job so that the students and staff are equipped and encouraged to grow in knowledge and truth of who God is and how He desires to use them for His kingdom purposes.

India

Pray for the team from Emmaus Church in Rockwall, TX who will be serving in India January 11-22. They will be showing love to children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS and to those who have a parent who works in the Red Light Area. Because of Dr. Edward's husband's death, the kids were not able to celebrate Christmas. Thus, the team will also celebrate with them.

One of the children at Santvana Home, Vishal, passed away last night after battling AIDS. Vishal was actually progressing and doing well through treatment. The staff commented on his infectious laugh and grin. Please pray for Dr. Edwards, the staff and the other children at the home as they grieve the loss of this sweet boy.

Continue to pray for Dr. Edwards as she grieves the loss of her husband and transitions into life without him. Pray for her leadership at Santvana and for God to give her peace.

Russia
Pray for Marina, our newest case manager, in St. Petersburg. Marina works with orphan graduates, helping them transition out of the orphanage into independent living.

We are still needing more people to go on the April 8-17 Russia trip to serve sweet orphans. Pray that God would open the doors for individuals to serve. For more details on this trip, click here.

Summer Internship
Please be in prayer for the 2010 summer internship as teams are being formed. Pray for God to raise up more young people to serve Him through fulfilling His mandate to love and care for orphans. The application deadline has been extended to January 31. To learn more about the internship, click here.

Please pray for
Baisnav in India.

Orphan Outreach in India has been supporting the Suryodoya Charitable Trust in the eastern state of Orissa, where thousands of believers have been driven out of their homes and forced to live in refugee camps. Many people reconverted back to Hinduism in order to return home, while some remain in the camps. As a result of the violence and persecution, many children are left alone with no home or family. The Surydoya Charitable Trust Home has served as a refuge in the midst of chaos for over seventy boys who have been displaced by the anti-Christian violence.

Baisnav Digal, age 15, and his parents were chased out of their village and assaulted with lethal weapons by a mob in 2008. Baisnav suffered injuries, but his father was killed. The Home took in Baisnav this past fall due to constant threats and the trauma he has endured. The staff say, "Baisnav is a disciplined boy and has been very happy in the midst of other children, keen to learn during the evening coaching classes, behaves as a good elder brother to the younger ones." The older boys attend a local school while the younger boys are  being schooled within the Home. The staff is trying to admit Baisnav into school.

Please pray for Baisnav and the Suryodoya Home:

  • Pray for the suffering and hurt Baisnav has experienced; pray that he would set his hope on God, his deliverer.
  • Pray that Baisnav would have the opportunity to receive an education. He hopes to become a teacher to fulfill his late father's dream.
  • Pray for the boys as they work through the trauma and emotional difficulties of what they have experienced. Pray that the God of all comfort would comfort them.
  • Pray that the light and peace of Christ would permeate the Home and the hearts of these boys.
  • Pray for the staff as they care for the children and as they seek to locate and reunite families that were separated during the persecution.
  • Pray for the need of resources to improve the living conditions and quality of care and education the boys receive.
  • Praise God for rescuing these boys and for providing shelter through Christians who love the Lord.
