PRAYER REQUEST

Guatemala

This past Friday we were able to bless close to 500 children while we distributed Christmas gifts at Mrs. Arzu's Christmas party. The children were very excited to receive their gifts and had big smiles on their faces.

The children at Good Shepherd Christian Academy in Santiago were also blessed by our Christmas Gift drive and received their Christmas presents on Monday. Several mothers approached our in-country staff to thank Orphan Outreach for this year's school support and for the Christmas presents. Honduras
The mission team returned from Honduras last week and had a fruitful time. We praise God for their safety and the work He accomplished. God used the team to share His love story with the children, staff and people in the dump community. The team worked with the students at AFE, fed many people at the dump, prayed with the local church, and attended AFE's graduation for the kindergarten and 6th grade classes among many other things.

India
Dr. Edwards' husband passed away last week from a long-term illness. Pray for Dr. Edwards, director and caregiver to 25 children affected with HIV at the Santvana Children’s Home, and her family as they deal with the recent loss.

Praise that after much time and effort the Jeevan Anand Home in Gujarat has finally received their license and permission from the government to accept orphans and operate as an orphanage. We have been praying and working towards this goal for several months now, and this is a major step for them as a ministry.

Pray that the Christmas season will bring much joy and cheer to all the kids and staff at our projects as they make plans to celebrate. Also pray that the gifts given to all the kids will bring a smile to their sweet faces amidst the celebrations.

Russia
Praise for the time in Luga where Christmas gifts were distributed and the good news of Jesus was shared. The children and caregivers enjoyed the program put on by the Christian theatre. Children from other orphanages were also able to attend the theatre. Pray that the Holy Spirit would touch the children's lives and that they would come to know Christ as their Savior.

Individual's Mission Trip to St. Petersburg, April 14-27, 2010:
Join us in serving orphaned children in Russia. This team will visit several different orphanages to minister to the precious children Jesus loves so much. You will have opportunities to teach them Bible stories, make crafts, play games, and show them unconditional love. This trip will open your eyes to many new things, and you will be able to see God working in amazing ways on the opposite side of the world!

Summer Internship
Please be in prayer for the 2010 summer internship. Pray for God to raise up young people to serve Him through fulfilling His mandate to love and care for orphans. This is a great, life-changing opportunity to grow, learn and be stretched, while also making a difference in the lives of many children. To learn more about the internship, click here.

Alisa, 17 years old

Zhenya, 16 years old

Please Pray for
Zhenya and Alisa
in Russia.

Zhenya and Alisa, 16 and 17, both graduated from Nikolsky orphanage this past August. They were in the orphanage for about 5 to 6 years because they do not have parents or their parents are alcoholics and are unable to care for them. However, the orphanage has been a safe haven for these girls, who still go back and visit in their free time. They spend time with old friends and attend the weekly Bible study. The orphanage is still a home to them. Zhenya and Alisa are currently in college studying tourism and economics. Both girls enjoy going to dance class.

  • Please pray for Zhenya and Alisa as they are in their first year of college, which can be a challenging time for orphan graduates. It is a blessing for them to be able to attend college for many older orphans are not given this chance.
  • Pray for God's provision and protection over these girls. Even though they have graduated from the orphanage, the staff is still able to keep up with them and encourage them to never give up.
