SCRIPTURE VERSE
"I will proclaim the name of the Lord.  Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong, upright
and just is He."
Deuteronomy 32:3 ~ 4
PRAISES
Thank you for diligently praying for the establishment of a new local trust (non-profit organization) in India on behalf of Orphan Outreach. Developing this new non-profit entity is vital in the long-term care of orphans in India. It establishes Orphan Outreach as an Indian ministry and provides stability and accountability to those we serve. This trust was recently registered with the government of India. This is a big step in completing the process.  Please continue to pray as we complete the next steps in the formation of this trust.

Praise the Lord that the Christian Alliance for Orphans Summit V went well last week.  This conference brought churches, orphan care ministries, adoption agencies and lay people together to increase awareness and expand the care of orphans around the world. Pray that many more would become involved in the ministry of orphan care and adoption because of this conference.

PRAYER REQUEST

Guatemala

Please continue to pray for the Good Shepherd Christian Academy in Santiago. This school, which began in January as part of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, now serves 130 of the poorest children from Panabaj and Santiago. Please pray that the Lord will continue to provide the funds needed to support the school. Orphan Outreach supports thirty of the children who attend the school. These scholarships of $30 a month provide the children with transporation to school as well as the cost of their tuition. Pray specifically for new partners to join Orphan Outreach in financially supporting these students. Click here to read more about the Good Shepherd Christian Academy.

Honduras
Please pray for the team traveling to Tegucigalpa on Saturday. This team of eight individuals will be ministering to children at Amor, Fe, Y Esperanza School (AFE).  Please pray for the team's health and safety during the trip.  Pray also for the children at AFE who face many challenges. They live in the city dump in Tegucigalpa where their families earn as little as $1 a day searching through the trash. For these children, AFE provides their only source of stability and care. Pray that their lives may be impacted by the team and that their hearts will be prepared to accept the love of Christ. Click here to read more about AFE and Orphan Outreach's work in Honduras.

A team from WAYfm, a Michigan radio station, will be returning to Honduras June 14-27. They are loading a 40-ft. container for the trip tonight, May 7 at 6 p.m. The container will be used to ship: 2 refurbished playgrounds for AFE, 2,000+ dried meals, 42+ large boxes of medicine and medical supplies, 671 pounds of brand new clothing (2,006 pieces), 200+ desks and chairs, 1,000 travel mugs, enough coffee cups for a small army, 2 medical exam tables, 6 cribs, 2 high chairs, a dresser, office supplies, toys and team supplies for crafts and a carnival, plus more! Click here for photos and team updates.

Please specifically pray for this container, that the loading goes well and that it will arrive before the team and that it will make it through customs without any problems.

India
The Children's Home in Anand is waiting on approval from the government that will allow them to grow the ministry and impact more children with God's love. Please pray that this approval comes soon. Click here to read more about how this home has blessed the lives of the children currently living here.

The Santvana AIDS Home in Pune is planning to expand their facilities so they can care for more children. Dr. Edwards currently cares for 23 children in the home and this expansion would allow 17 more children to be served. Without Santvana, these children would not receive the proper care or love they need to thrive; most importantly, these children would not know the gift of Christ. A majoirty of the children that come to Santvana come from Muslim families, but through the love and discipleship provided by the staff at Santvana, these children and many of their family members come to know the Lord. Please pray for the children who have recently arrived at the home, that their hearts may be open to hearing the truth of Christ's love and for the families of all the children, that they too may come to know the Lord. Pray also that the rennovations and expansion go well and are completed quickly so more children can be cared for. Also pray that the children in this home will continue to bond together and grow stronger in their love for Christ.

Russia
In March, we asked you to pray for Sergey, a 17 year-old orphan graduate in Russia. On April 21, Orphan Outreach and Florida Baptist Children's Homes hosted a conference in St. Petersburg, Russia to address the issues orphan graduates face. In response to your prayers, eighty-five professionals attended the conference, including orphanage directors, representatives from vocational schools and officials from the the Russian Ministry of Education. As a result, Orphan Outreach is launching a pilot program in the Leningrad region of Russia to match young people, like Sergey, with a caseworker who will help them transition from the orphanage into independent living. $40 is needed per graduate to provide household items and other basic necessities. Pray for the 62 graduates who will be leaving at the end of May and for God to provide the finances to support them. To read more about this conference, click here.

Summer Trips
Please pray for all our summer teams and 18 interns as they prepare to leave over the next few months. Pray that God would begin to work in the hearts of the children and trip participants and that lives would be changed as a result of God's work through His servants. Please Pray for
Sheetal in India

Of India’s nearly 400 million under 18, over 70 million are child laborers, 10 million are bonded laborers (a form of slavery to pay off family debts), 13 million are homeless, and 2 million are street children without families. There are 575,000 child prostitutes and a massive trade of Bangladeshi and Nepali girls sold into prostitution. AIDS has spread rapidly and some estimate that by 2020 there could be 200 million people carrying HIV. Sheetal is one little girl who was saved from a life of prostitution.

Sheetal comes from the Red Light Area (RLA) in Pune. Her mother was a sex worker, who left the brothel and her daughter. Sheetal is about 8 years old, but both her age and birth date are unknown. However, she has been given April 24th as her birth date.

In Pune, soliciting clients on the streets after 11 p.m. is punishable, but a sex worker can carry out her activity in the house. Therefore a lot of boys and girls are used as what they call “runners” to bring clients in. One night Sheetal was sent at the pretext of getting betel leaves for her “mother’’ (madam), and someone caught her and tried to molest her. When she screamed, she was rescued by a man who brought her and left her in care of the staff in the RLA. If she had been sexually abused, she would have been sucked into the trade and most assuredly infected by sexually transmitted infections and HIV. Praise God for protecting her and bringing her to the Santvana Home on December 2nd.

Sheetal loves the children and takes very good care of the little ones in the home. She loves food; every day she is the first to tell the staff it is meal time. Best of all she likes dressing up. When the staff gets clothes for the kids, Sheetal is the first to come and see if she will get something. She is mentally underdeveloped for her age, but well cared for and loved by the caregivers at Santvana.

Please join us in praying for Sheetal, that she would know and experience the overwhelming and incomparable love of Jesus. Also pray for the other children at Santvana, for their health and for Dr. Edwards (Home’s director) as she cares for these precious children.
