"So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved,
put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
- Colossians 3:12
Praises

A mission team from Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas delivered backpacks to children in India. We are thankful for this team and their ministry to the children and to different tribes throughout India. Continue to pray for additional volunteers who will return to India with Indian Tribals in Ministry this spring to continue distributing backpacks and sharing Christ’s love. “We thank you so much for the backpacks. It was like giving a teenager here a new car, “ said Mike Harmon, a member of the mission team. “God enabled us to pray for the sick, feed the hungry and proclaim the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Click here to view photos of the backpacks being distributed by this mission team.

We are so thankful for the opportunities we were given recently in the St. Petersburg and Leningrad districts of Russia; we were able to hold a large Christmas party for the orphan children. What a wonderful opportunity to share about Jesus.

More than 360 students, faculty and staff at Baldwin Street Middle School in Hudsonville, Michigan raised funds to support The Good Shepherd Baptist School in Santiago, Guatemala this past December. We are thankful for the support of the students and staff for their willingness to share the gift of education with students in Guatemala.

Prayer Request

Guatemala
Praise God for The Good Shephard Baptist School in Santiago. We were able to bless them with 130 school supply bags and six computers. We are also very thankful for the funds that have been raised to provide scholarships to 30 students who otherwise would not have been able to attend the school. This is truly a blessing. Please continue to pray for the staff and the children, for many blessings on this new school year.

Please keep praying for security and wisdom for Guatemalan authorities as they continue to protect the citizens of Guatemala.

Honduras
Pray for the AFE (Love, Faith and Hope) School and Proverbs School as they begin a new school year. Pray for the leadership of AFE as they have had more students then ever at the school.

Pray for our new Orphan Outreach Honduran Coordinator, Melvin Mondragon. He began his work with us just a couple of weeks ago.  Pray for a smooth transition process of getting familiar with all our projects.

Pray for 121 Community Church as they leave for a mission trip to Honduras this week.  Pray for safety and that the Lord would use them in a great way in the lives of the children at AFE..

India
Pray for Uma and his family as they move to a new apartment. Also pray for Steve Spencer and Mike Douris as they visit all our ministry programs throughout India and travel to areas where persecution currently exist.  Mike and Steve will also visit Bangladesh with Gospel for Muslims to evaluate starting schools in jungle villages. Pray for safe travels, wisdom, discernment, and that they would glorify the Lord.

Russia
Pray for the Conference in April that Orphan Outreach is planning in Russia. Begin to pray that many would come to know Christ personally through this conference. Pray also for every staff member in Russia who will participate in the this conference and for all the details that must be accomplished in the next few months.

Please pray for Gennady, a director at one of the orphanages in Russia. Please pray that he would come to know Christ in a real and personal way this year.

Many of the children under orphan care in Russia are in the hospital for illnesses. Please pray that these children (especially the younger ones) will receive special care and attention.

Orphan Outreach has been holding small Bible studies for orphans in Russia. Pray for our staff and for safe travel as they begin the new year of our Orphan Outreach evangelistic ministry with the orphanages. Pray also that each child, as well as the orphanage directors and caregivers will hear and understand the Gospel and come to know Jesus personally.

So many of the orphans in Russia are afraid of what their future will bring; they live their lives with fear and anxiety. Please pray for each orphan in Russia that they would find peace and comfort in Jesus Christ and the new life He offers them.

Vladimir Yakovlev, 14 years old.
Zhenya Tolstuhina, 15 years old.

Please pray for Vladimir
and Zhenya, who live in
an orphanage near
St. Petersburg, Russia.

Vladimir Yakovlev (above) is a 14- year-old boy who has spent most of his childhood in a Russian orphanage. Vladimir came to the orphanage at the age of six, when his mother, an alcoholic, became unable to care for him. He has never known his father, and with no family or support system, Vladimir is fearful of what life outside the orphanage will be like for him.

Fifteen-year-old Zhenya Tolstuhina (pictured above), came to live in the orphanage when she was only eleven years old. The daughter of alcoholic parents, Zhenya also came to the orphanage because her parents were unable to care.

Vladimir and Zhenya's stories are similar to those of more than 700,000 children currently living in Russian orphanages. Yet they are the lucky few. With more than 1.2 million children currently living on the streets in Russia, Vladimir and Zhenya have found a home in the orphanage and have found faith in Christ through weekly Bible studies and discipleship with the Orphan Outreach Evangelistic Minstry Team.

Please pray for both Vladimir and Zhenya. Vladimir wants to attend the University and become a cook, but as an orphan in Russia he is fearful about his future. Please pray that the Lord will guide all Vladimir's decisions and provide a bright future for him and other children living in orphanages throughout Russia.

Zhenya's greatest prayer is to finish school with good grades and enter the University. Please pray that the Lord will provide for all Zhenya's needs. Zhenya has also had problems with her knees. She had surgery on one knee and must now have surgery on the other knee. Please pray for complete healing for Zhenya.

As you pray for Zhenya and Vladimir, please also pray for the millions of orphans throughout Russia. For those children living on the streets, pray that they may find shelter, warmth and food. For the children living in orphanages, pray that they may come to know Christ and be provided hope for a brighter future. Also pray that these children will come to be part of loving, nurturing families.

Of all the orphans in Russia, less than 8,000 of these children are adopted by Russians each year due to the social stigma that adoption carries in Russia.

An orphan's average life expectancy is less than 30 years. Many of the children begin smoking at the age of 12 or 13, and the orphanages lack the funds to buy the most basic needs such as medical supplies, adequate food, nutritional supplements and winter clothing. Medical and dental care for orphans is almost non-existent.
